Reports to: Minerals Country Business Line Manager Australasia Direct Reports: Operations Manager, QA Co-ordinator, HSSE Co-ordinators, Maintenance Manager, Business Support Manager, Travel Co-ordinators, New Site Project Manager Support: Finance, Human Resources, Projects Co-ordinators Business Line: Minerals Location: Perth, Western Australia Department: Mine Laboratories Financial Accountability: All Outsourced Laboratories - Minerals BL Australia Position Purpose Lead Intertek's Outsourced Laboratory business across Australia to deliver strong performance including growth, meet or exceed client and Intertek Group requirements,provision of a safe work environment and an engaging high performing work culture. Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities (including but not limited to) Financial Full P&L Accountability for all Outsourced Operations throughout the applicable region Produces accurate forecasts and reviews P&L performance against monthly (track 1) and longer-term (track 2) revenue/profit/margin/cost variances/Capex spend and overall cost control (noting variable costs are proportional to revenues)Annual preparation of budgets and strategy growth plans to include market trends, competitor analysis, capex and headcountOperational Full accountability for Operations, Quality, Productivity and HSE across the portfolio of operations Daily, weekly, monthly use of the 5X5 platform to drive key KPIs, includes laboratory efficiency, productivity, TAT, sales, service delivery, complaints, people and HSE - ensure actions plans are created and consistently tracked using the 10X Cockpit Be an escalation point with client representatives to address production, quality and other related requirementsRoutine site visits to meet colleagues and drive visibility of management - similarly connect with existing customers on each site visitCreates insight for reports and commentary for monthly performance reviews Drives a culture of continuous operational excellence through 10X Lean and Kaizen tools to analyse workflows to improve processes and efficienciesCreates an internal culture of margin accretive innovation to expand the Core offering to existing and new clientsCommunicate all operating policies and/or business updates at regular Town Hall / Teams meetings through an engaging leadership styleCollaborate and co-ordinate with the Geochemistry business where the client requires regional supportEnsure the operations meet the requirements and guidelines of Intertek's ISO17025 and ISO45001 corporate accreditationsFor successful bids liaising with clients and following the implementation plan with responsibility for:Procurement of equipment and consumablesDelivery to client siteInstallation and commissioningDevelopment and implementation of site specific Safety Management Plans, Quality Management Systems, Safe Work ProceduresLiaise with Intertek technical experts for customised methodology where requiredCustomer Delivers superior sales and customer service by seeking out current and new opportunities both MAI (Margin Accretive) and expanding from the Core services - a positive TQA partner to the customerTrack and monitor delivery to customer expectations and KPI's. Negotiate variations to contract with customers as and when required.Drive the business unit to add value and drive continual improvement.Serve as an escalation point of contact for the customer related to quality, customer service, or incidents. Ensure appropriate approvals before responding to client complaints and/or legal mattersActively seeks opportunities to upsell to Customers with new products and services; work in partnership with other Minerals Managers to develop ATIC Total Quality Assurance services Leads the Business Development teams to identify and progress new service offerings. Includes expansion opportunities which require Capex spendConsistently track Net Promoter Score (NPS) activity plans ensuring full communication with site leads and customersAct as KAM for appropriate clientsPeople Role models the Intertek values and sets a positive example for all employees using the 10X Leadership EnergiesPromotes employee engagement ensuring team members work together as a cohesive team Communicates regularly with direct team and wider site colleagues ensuring clarity on direction, performance expectations and recognition of individual achievementsLead and coach direct reports; consistently focused on My 10X Journey performance and growth reviews to give meaningful feedback, building future talent pipeline, succession planning and people plansPlans for an agile organisation design and ensures the right manpower planning to succeedContinual training and awareness of Intertek's information platforms.Liaising with HR advisor for recruitment and onboarding of staffPosition Requirements: Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Other Knowledge A relevant tertiary qualification in scienceExperience in commercial laboratories and minesite laboratories including at least 10 years' experience in leadership rolesMinerals industry experience and contactsUnderstanding of the mining lifecycle with an emphasis on sampling, processing and analysis and Intertek's service offering across the life cycleKnowledge of and experience with ISO 17025 and ISO 45001 accreditations and their requirementsSkills Excellent communication skills both written and verbalStrong organisational skillsStrong IT skills and ability to use all key Microsoft systemsStrong customer service orientationAbilities Self-motivated with strong attention to detailStrong leadership abilities to lead engaged and high performing teamsUnderstand P&L and budget processesRegular performance reviewsOther Continuous improvement through performancereviews, staying abreast of innovations and potential implementations to improve process flows or offer new value add servicesMust be mobile to travel to various sites and client offices, and compliant with OHS directivesProviding management relief if requiredIntertek Global Requirements Leadership Lead by example, comply with all legal, professional and company requirements.Provide guidance to colleagues and through them the business line to maintain engagement in Intertek's vision and strategy, build a capable workforce and provide a work environment in which people can perform.Ensure that Intertek systems are utilised and maintained as required.Ensure that effective communication methods are adopted throughout the team.Ensure that Intertek HR policies and procedures are followed at all times.Champions Intertek's 5x5 strategy and Company Values, and promote a consistent focus on 10xPerformanceEnsures the business operates within the CMCs, with a focus on a safe working environment Team focus Participate in formal and informal team communication activities.Participate in the development and achievement of team goals and workload requirements.Contribute to the development of new and innovative processes and practices.Other Other appropriate duties as requested by your Employer.You must have the right to live and work in this location to apply for this job.
