We are seeking a capable and suitably experienced professional to join The Hotel Britomart in the position of full time Sustainability & Purchasing Coordinator. Reporting to the Operations Manager/General Manager, you will play a pivotal role in implementing and managing sustainability initiatives at The Hotel Britomart. This role would be ideal for someone working withing the hospitality industry with a passoion for sustainability, looking to get their foot in the door in their first sustainability focused role. About the role:
- Collaborate with hotel management and department heads to develop and implement comprehensive sustainability strategies.
- Identify opportunities to reduce energy consumption, water usage, waste generation, and carbon emissions throughout hotel operations.
- Analyse data and prepare regular reports to assess progress, identify trends, and recommend areas for improvement.
- Develop and implement waste management strategies to minimise landfill waste and increase recycling rates.
- Establish criteria for evaluating suppliers based on sustainability performance and ethical practices.
- Build relationships with local community organizations, NGOs, and government agencies.
- Collaborate on projects aimed at enhancing the environmental and social well-being of the local community.
- Collaborate with department heads to understand their purchasing needs and requirements.
- Receive incoming shipments of goods and supplies.
- Build and maintain relationships with suppliers and vendors.
- Maintain procurement records, including purchase orders, invoices, and contracts.
- Monitor inventory levels to agreed PAR levels.
- A passion for sustainability.
- 1 year experience within the hospitality and hotel industry.
- Eye for detail coupled with a strong ability to proactively identify, prioritize and manage multiple tasks, and successfully accomplish objectives in a busy and challenging workplace.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
