We employ more than 700 employees across Canada and the US.SUMMARYManage the Quality Engineering function in the plant, you will ensure that the products and processes are running within customer and product specification(s) and you will be responsible for supporting customer needs at your location. You will implement changes to the Quality Manual and procedures in your facility and ensure corrective actions are completed in a timely basis. You will support the Plant manager in all aspects of the operation and working as a back to the Plant manager, managing the operation when so directed. You will lead the auditing process in your facility and ensure that the plants operations are consistent with our Quality policy and requirements. You will be the direct customer interface at the facility. GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIESØ Work in a plant "Pro-Active Team" environment, with all other departments. Reviewing all production methods for compliance to quality standards and for improvement of product quality standards.Ø Ensure APQP Functions are operating as required.Ø Review processes for quality improvements. Lead Kaizen events and coordinate Cost improvement initiatives.Ø Ensure customer quality issues are resolved within a timely basis and corrective actions are firmly in place.Ø Lead the in-house internal auditing process.Ø Support internal auditing at other divisions at WTC when scheduled.Ø Ensure timely reports of quality related metrics with the plant and report out to management as required.Ø All other duties as required by the Director QHSE and/or Plant Manager.SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIESØ Provide input for product and process feasibility.Ø Support the Layered process audit (LPA) system for all quality and safety related tasks.Ø Manage the plant employee continuous improvement program.Ø Implement Continuous Improvement initiatives and projects across all shifts.Ø Drive the problem resolution process (CAR's) for both internal and external plant specific quality and safety issues.Ø Implement supplier cost reductions.Ø Liaise with Technical Services on capital projects implementation.Ø Utilize Lean Manufacturing techniques, i.e. Value stream mapping, quick changeovers, 5S, etc.Ø Collect and analyze data to provide direction in reducing process variation initiatives.Ø Act as a backup for Plant Manager when required. QUALIFICATIONSØ Engineering Technologist or Mechanical engineering diploma.Ø Minimum 5 years experience within Industrial manufacturing. Experience within the Steel or pipe manufacturing industry is ideal.Ø Experience with managing an IS09001/IS029001 quality management system.Ø Internal or lead auditing experience within an IS09001/ISO29001/TS16949 quality system.Ø Exceptional understanding of TS16040 and IS09001 practices and Standards.Ø Extensive knowledge of Quality Engineering techniques including APQP, QSA, FMEA, SPC, MSA and PPAP.Ø Above Average written and oral Communication and Organizational skills, with the ability to work effectively and efficiently with management as well as hourly employees.  Building Materials
