EDC Senior Regional Manager (Business Development Director)The Consulate General of Canada in Dallas is seeking to hire a Business Development Director for the US Southwest region at the LE -M1 level within the Export Development Corporation Section of the Consulate.

Export Development Canada (EDC) is Canada's export credit agency, offering innovative financial and commercial solutions to help Canadian exporters and investors expand their international business. EDC's knowledge and partnerships are used by more than 9,400 Canadian companies and their global customers in up to 200 markets worldwide each year. Approximately 80 per cent of EDC's customers are small and medium-sized businesses.

EDC is a Crown corporation, wholly owned by the Government of Canada, is financially self-sustaining, and is a recognized leader in financial reporting and economic analysis. While headquartered in Ottawa, Canada, EDC has a world-wide presence.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Leads the development and implementation of the business strategy for the EDC program focused on developing opportunities for Canadian exporters and Investors in EDC's sectors of focus, such as Cleantech, Agrifood, Infrastructure, and others.

Understands current trends of Cleantech in the region and has relationships with relevant participants in market to help finding opportunities for Canadian exporters.

Provides insight to Senior EDC Management into the needs of the US Southwest region market in terms of innovative solutions to meet regional business needs.

Provides advice and recommendations on investments and business opportunities, on the relevant sectors , in the region and ensures team members' approach is aligned with EDC strategy and philosophies.

Provides oversight and leadership of the development and implementation of sales and client engagement initiatives within the region. Additionally, this position will provide guidance, performance management and leadership to direct reports.

Area of Selection:Open to all interested candidates who are legally authorized to work and reside in the United States, having independent work authorization and status in accordance with U.S. protocol directives for employment in a foreign mission, who will be residing in the region at the time of appointment, who meet all of the essential requirements stated below and whose applications are received by the closing date.

Please note that the mission will not reimburse relocation costs under any circumstance and that the mission does not sponsor work authorizations directly or indirectly.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

Candidates will initially be screened against the Essential Qualifications relating to education, language* and experience.

Candidates must clearly demonstrate when applying to the position how they meet each of these essential qualifications.

*Language will be assessed further during the process.

Education:

Candidates will be required to provide proof of the completion of their education.

Degree from accredited college or university; OR

An acceptable combination of education, training and work experience related to the duties and specific areas of competence required by the position, including but not limited to business or economics.

Language:An advanced proficiency level in English (reading, writing, comprehension and speaking).

Experience:

Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in a senior business development role with capital providers or financial intermediaries with experience in commercial/corporate lending and/or structured project finance deal structuring.

RATED REQUIREMENTS

The Rated Requirements are part of the essential qualifications and are relating to knowledge, abilities and competencies. Methods of assessment for rated requirements may include, but are not limited to, a written examination, an oral interview (online pre-recorded/live or in-person), role-play, practical tests, presentations and/or psychometric assessment.

Knowledge:

Knowledge of international economic development (e.g., export / trade promotion, Foreign Direct Investment)

Client focus and results oriented

Adaptability and flexibility

Sound judgement

Abilities:Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing;

Ability to work independently in a proactive and accountable manner;

Ability to develop and maintain a network of clients, local contacts and influencers;

Ability to identify local market needs and relevant business opportunities;

Ability to conduct research and analysis and provide strategic advice;

Ability to work as a part of a team and manage multiple projects / priorities with tight deadlines.

Asset Qualifications:Preference may be given to candidates who meet the Asset Qualifications. Where applicable, candidates must clearly demonstrate how they meet any asset qualifications.

The ability to work in French

Knowledge of current US and Canadian/Ontario political events and issues.

Evidence of deep networks in one or more of the regions: Southwest and broadly Central and West United States regions

Operational Requirements:Hours of work: Normal hours of work for this position are in accordance with Locally-Engaged Staff regulations of 37.5 hours per week.

Location of work: Work is normally performed on-site with flexibility for teleworking.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel throughout the United States and to Canada.

Conditions of Employment:Conditions of employment must be met or complied with before being appointed to a particular position, and are to be maintained throughout the employment while being the incumbent of this position.

- Valid work authorization: Ability to obtain and hold a valid work authorization covering the entire employment period.

- Security screening: Obtain and maintain a Reliability Status (security level) which includes a criminal and credit background check from the Government of Canada covering the entire employment period.
