The post is 32 hours per week spread across 4 days per week (2 days in Dawlish and 1 day at Torpoint). Term-time contracts will also be considered.This is a great opportunity for a Sensory Integration qualified and HCPC registered Specialist Occupational Therapist to join our award winning, friendly and forward thinking team of Speech and Language Therapists as we look to expand the Allied Health Professionals within Phoenix Learning and Care Group.The successful candidate will be taking over from another Occupational Therapist who has begun the assessment process for funded students. The candidate will be expected to continue delivery of direct and indirect therapy and to advise/work with the Clinical Lead to further develop the Occupational Therapy offer within our specialist college.Requirements of the role:Neurodiversity affirming practitioner or willingness to learn and adapt in line with the teamDegree in Occupational TherapyHCPC registered as an Occupational TherapistMembership with RCOTPost graduate training in Sensory Integration and ProcessingMinimum 3 years post qualification experienceAbility to work across our college services where requiredAbility to lone workBe able to complete or contribute to capacity assessments working within Mental Capacity Act 2005Access to own suitable transport and ability to drive extended distances to our services where requiredPart time (minimum 0.6WTE) and full time roles considered.We are looking for applicants who have experience of carrying out Occupational Therapy and Sensory Processing and Integration assessments for children and young adults with special education needs, including, but not limited to, neurodivergence and social, emotional and mental health needs. It would be helpful for applicants to have an understanding of trauma and attachment and Neurodiversity Affirming practices, particularly in relation to the development of sensory processing and the Education, Health and Care Plan process.Where Occupational Therapy is funded, the role would include, but not limited to:assessment,direct therapy,writing indirect therapy programmes,advice and consultation,delivering training,working remotely and face to face,attendance at meetings, including Education, Health and Care Plan reviews.Whilst the main base for this role will be Oakwood Specialist College, Dawlish, travel may be required across our services which span the South West and South Wales so the applicant must be a driver with their own car.We would like to hear from you if you are a committed, enthusiastic person, with a passion for Occupational Therapy. We are particularly interested in hearing from people who work within the Neurodiversity Paradigm and/or who are committed to evolving their practice in line with the current evidence base.The successful applicant will be working within a busy team of Speech and Language Therapists, Creative Arts Therapists, Counsellors, Psychologists and Assistants. They will be expected to pick up an active caseload and to hit the ground running under the guidance and supervision of the Clinical Lead.Phoenix is committed to safeguarding children, young people, families and our team members at all times.
