Data Center Deployment Technician

Summit Technologies, Inc . has a position for a Data Center Deployment Technician. In this position, you will be coordinating and carrying out the implementation and support of computer hardware within a data center. This includes facility management responsibilities which comprise of understanding data center infrastructure items such as computer hardware, electrical power, heating, cooling, redundancy, availability, disaster recovery, fire suppression, access control, physical security and facility support. You must be a US Citizen with an active DoD Secret clearance. This on-site position is in Manama, Bahrain. Responsibilities:

• IT Hardware Installation, Integration, and Configuration (including servers, workstations, and LAN components).
• Physically install and cable server hardware to include switching, hard-drives, and other associated components.
• Physically install cable switches, routers, firewalls, Virtual Private Network (VPN) hardware, console interfaces, racks and other associated hardware.
• Configure and troubleshoot switches, routers, firewalls, VPN hardware, console interfaces, racks and other associated hardware.
• Install, terminate, label, and repair cables (copper and fiber) in accordance with customer provided work orders and/or engineering solutions.
• Install supporting conveyance, patch panels and trunks in accordance with customer provided work orders and/or engineering solutions.
• Perform independent verification and validation on baseline hardware.
• Provide touch labor support activities for all server and networking hardware located on the raised floor including cycling power on devices, verification of cabling, verification of power, re-cabling devices, re-terminating cabling, component replacement, device relocation, work-center configuration, workstation configurations, workstation deployments, and workstation cabling as required.
• Perform turnover of installed hardware to technical/operational staff once installation and configuration is completed.
• Participate in annual planning and provide input for Continuity of Operations (COOP).
• Provide guidance and assist with inspections and audits.
• Provide end user phone support.

• Perform de-installation tasks for IT hardware and associated components.
• Prepare components for disposition using IT hardware provider instructions.
• Relocate IT hardware to directed location for disposition actions or retrieval.
• Assist with annual equipment inventory compliance and accountability review.
• Provide Data Center logistical support.

Education & Certification:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and training
• DoD 8570 certification

Skills & Requirements:

• A total of 5 years of hardware experience in the IT industry.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in performing diagnostic testing and system troubleshooting of local area network (LAN) equipment, repairing and replacing LAN components.
• Minimum 3 years of experience performing server and workstation connection, configuration, integration and testing, and upgrade system components.
• Experience with installing and configuring Windows and/or UNIX servers.
• Hands-on work experience in data center environments, DoD data centers a plus.
• Experience with COOP planning and operations a plus.
• Able to maneuver in small spaces and lift up to 25kg (55 lbs).

• Shift work may be required.
• On Call Duties will be required.
