Business Function Risk Management Group (RMG) is responsible for the development and maintenance of risk management and internal control frameworks. We provide independent review and challenge to business to ensure that appropriate balance is considered in risk/return decisions. In addition, RMG is responsible for the monitoring and reporting on key risk issues of the Bank. To manage risk effectively and deliver strong financial performance, we invest significantly in our people and infrastructure. A rapidly growing number of stakeholders globally across governments, private and financial sectors as well as the society at large have embraced the urgent need to address environmental and social challenges. We recognise that banks have a two-way relationship with climate - climate change has risk implications on the portfolio of banks and bank lending affects the climate via the financing provided. Responsible for supporting the Bank's climate risk scenario analysis and stress testing, the team drives the development and implementation of climate risk models and methodologies for our wholesale and retail portfolios, strengthening our climate risk management including transition and physical risks which may arise from climate change. The role will give the candidate the unique opportunity to be exposed to the rapidly growing field of climate risk, and play a pivotal role in shaping the Bank's climate risk management frameworks and advancing the Bank's capabilities in this subject. Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with Model Development team and other relevant stakeholders to develop and oversee the design and implementation of climate risk models, including data sourcing/ingestion, developing of methodologies and system implementation
  • Drive analysis of structured and unstructured data, validating the integrity of data to be used, propose solutions and strategies to tackle challenges
  • Support data-driven decision-making and complex problem-solving, through succinct communications and leveraging on data visualization tools
  • Keep abreast of the evolving regulatory landscape and support the interpretation of regulatory expectations and to ensure risk compliance with emerging climate risk regulations
  • Keep updated on the latest climate risk industry best practices, literature, data and framework, to contribute to continuous improvement in climate risk modelling and overall climate risk management for the Bank
  • Support the execution of climate scenario analysis for the Group and associated climate-related internal management reporting, external disclosures and regulatory submissions
  • Support the management of end-to-end development lifecycle, from planning and initiation to execution and tracking progress to meet milestones and ensuring execution excellence
Requirements
  • Proven track record in stakeholder management along with working across functions to drive collaboration, success and achievement of KPIs
  • Experience with climate or ESG related risk or banking experience is a plus
  • Excellent qualitative and quantitative research and analytical skills
  • Proficiency in SQL, Python and other advance analytical languages/tools is a plus
  • Proficiency in BI tools (Qlikview, QlikSense, Tableau) is a plus
  • Strong in using MS Office applications such as Microsoft Excel and Powerpoint
  • Analytical and creative problem solver, effective communicator and strong team player
  • Self-motivated to drive and own topics independently through to completion
  • Strong conceptual skills to drive methods, models, data mining, etc, and the ability to translate complex regulatory requirements into practical solutions
  • University graduate or above with major in a quantitative discipline, risk management or finance
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in areas described above
