• Strategic Planning: Develop and implement strategic plans and initiatives to ensure the SMF-SDO fulfils its Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and obligations as outlined in the Letter of Offer (LOF).
• Team Leadership: Lead a team of eight staff members, providing guidance, support, and direction to ensure they perform their roles effectively. This includes delegating tasks, monitoring progress, providing feedback, and fostering a positive and productive work environment.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with various stakeholders, such as government agencies, industry associations, manufacturers, and other organisations, to establish strong partnerships and gather input for standards development, as well as to establish collaboration within the SMF on its strategic business focus (Sustainability, Human Capital, Internationalisation & Productivity). Maintain effective communication channels to address queries, concerns, and feedback from stakeholders. 
• Compliance and Obligations: Ensure the SMF-SDO adheres to all regulatory requirements, legal obligations, and governance policies related to standards development. This involves staying updated on relevant regulations and industry best practices and implementing necessary processes and procedures.
• Performance Monitoring: Monitor the performance of the SMF-SDO against KPIs and obligations outlined in the LOF. Regularly review progress, identify areas for improvement, and implement corrective actions as needed.
• Budgeting and Resource Management: Manage the financial resources allocated to the SMF-SDO, preparing and overseeing the budget to ensure effective utilisation of funds. Allocate resources appropriately to support the standards development and promotional activities.
