Senior Data Scientist - RealFi

Summary IO Global (IOG), the creator of the Cardano blockchain platform, is searching for a Senior Data Scientist, preferably with a DeFi background. IOG is creating a spinout venture that combines crypto/Web3/DeFi innovations with traditional finance (TradFi) to make borrowing and lending services more transparent, efficient, and available to a broader population. The venture aims to build a marketplace to syndicate tokenized debt assets globally in a fully compliant manner. While the initial focus is on Africa, RealFi has global applicability. You will help support the efforts to establish this venture during its incubation phase within IOG. As a Senior Data Scientist, with experience from the financial/DeFi sector and big data projects, you will be responsible for collecting, cleaning, analyzing, and interpreting data from a wide variety of data sources. Duties

• Collecting and cleaning (financial) data from a variety of sources.
• Analyzing data using statistical and machine learning techniques to identify patterns and trends.
• Building models that can be used to make predictions.
• Communicating findings to users in a clear and concise way, including visualizations and reports.
• Deploying models for (credit) decision making purposes, and monitoring of models performance for making adjustments.
• Staying up-to-date on the latest trends.

• Versatile in statistical analysis, time series databases, and experience with systems with stochastic properties.

• Have a keen interest in blockchain and cryptocurrency technology developments.

• Ability to work remotely with minimum supervision.
• Proven ability to work and deliver end-to-end projects independently.
• Taking responsibility and leadership for small projects.
• Team spirit and good communication abilities.
• Good organizational skills and attention to detail.

• Bachelor's degree or higher in a quantitative/technical field, such as Computer Science, Maths/Statistics, Engineering, etc.
• 5+ years of experience with statistical analysis, programming and machine learning.
• Experience of working with fundamentally stochastic systems and/or systems where hazards and risks are an integral part of the system operation and reporting.
• Proven experience with natural language processing (NLP), machine learning (ML), time series analysis, programming in Python, R, and SQL.
• Knowledge of functional programming (preferable Haskell), numerical math libraries is a plus.

• A background in distributed computing and blockchain technologies is a plus.
• Professional experience in the financial services sector with Credit and/or Alternative Credit industry specific knowledge is a plus.
