About the role We are seeking a Quality Lead to provide technical expertise (food safety, quality, compliance, animal welfare) to the manufacturing and distributing facilities, to ensure products remain safe, compliant, and best practises are followed. The role would be based at our New Plymouth plant. Reporting to the Technical Manager New Plymouth, this role empowers you in assisting & maintaining the site's Risk Management Programme (RMP), Quality Management System (QMS), GFSI certification and Customer compliance requirements. The key to your success in this role will be your ability to assess a situation professionally, your leadership skills, and ability to influence, foster teamwork, and build relationships with people at all levels of our complex business. Experience in various technical teams and sites in the business will be an advantage to bring innovative ideas and consistency. A day in the life of the role:
- Ensures prerequisite programmes are maintained, adhered to, and updated when required, to deliver requirements of the Company's RMP and QMS
- Assists in maintaining the site's Animal Welfare compliance.
- Conducts internal verification audits.
- Leads external Regulatory and Customer audits.
- Provides support to site's manufacturing and distributing facilities with problem solving and troubleshooting quality issues.
- Provides support to Regional Technical Manager, ensuring alignment to the delivery of Company strategies, values, and behaviours.
- Provides technical expertise to ensure the food safety and quality integrity of new product launches.
- Food Technology, Food Science, or relevant Science tertiary qualification, with at least 6 years' experience in quality assurance, compliance, or food technology in a manufacturing environment
- Lead Auditor experience.
- Advanced HACCP.
- Experience maintaining Risk Management Programmes and Quality Management Systems, GFSI programmes, Private Label and Customer food safety requirements and programmes.
- Experience conducting internal audits.
- Knowledge of New Zealand and International food legislation.
- Experience with animal welfare
