Operations Risk Manager

 

Role Profile

This is an exciting new role within the AirTanker family, and as such provides the successful candidate with a unique opportunity to be a fundamental part of the evolution of risk culture within the business.

The Operations Risk Manager position supports the AirTanker business in its identification, management, and mitigation of operational risk. The role will play a key part in the development and embedding of a robust Operational Risk framework. This includes areas such as company policy and compliance, and resilience management. The role will ensure that operational risks are identified, owned, measured, monitored, controlled and reported in order that they can be managed appropriately and in an efficient manner. This will enable informed decisions to be taken and support the management of threats and ability to exploit opportunities. Where appropriate the role will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of business continuity plans that support AirTanker's risk framework.

Additionally, the role will be responsible for the management of the airlines' Emergency Response Plan, ensuring regulatory compliance, policy ownership and company awareness.

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively across a broad range of functional areas and be a proactive, forward thinking risk professional.

 

Role Responsibilities

The role is broadly split between three key areas: Operations Risk management, Business Continuity and Emergency Response.

 

Operational Risk

Operational Risk Management activities will include informing the Enterprise Risk position on all aspects of Operational risk and opportunity via effective management and co-ordination of Operational risk activities, enabling the business to make informed decisions.

 

This will include supporting and influencing the business in its' identification, assessment, analysis and optimisation of mitigations/controls of all operational risks, ensuring up to date record of risks is maintained. The role will also include the provision of reports, analysis and recommendations as appropriate, informing risk decisions, executive briefings and shareholder outcomes.

 

Emergency Response

Delivering and managing the Emergency Response Plan ensuring AirTanker has an appropriate response to any emergency in line with good industry practice and regulatory standards.

 

This will also include organising and planning emergency exercises, delivering training and acting as subject matter expert (SME), liaising with all stakeholders and customers.

 

Business Continuity

Developing an effective business continuity framework and plans to ensure AirTanker is able to respond effectively and efficiently in the event of a business interruption. Continually improving the strategy, operating framework, plans and processes to ensure effectiveness and efficiency.

 

As SME the role will also be responsible for ensuring best practice and maintaining legal compliance in Business Continuity, including establishing an audit programme and delivery of proposals for corrective action as appropriate.

 

The Operations Risk Manager will champion Continuous Improvement in all of their activities.

 

The Individual

• Preferable aviation risk management experience

• Demonstrable experience of managing and/or delivering Emergency Response and/or Business Continuity and/or Operational Risk at a senior level

• High levels of drive and a proven ability to get things done

• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with all stakeholders

• Ability to consider and assess the implications of wider business and Commercial drivers

• Proven negotiating and influencing skills and customer focus

• Proven ability to maintain documentation to regulatory standards

• Experience of establishing and improving processes and procedures

• Experience with using Active Risk Management (ARM) risk management software (or similar).

• Member of the Emergency Planning Society; Institute of Risk Management or Business Continuity Institute

Due to the nature of the organisation, all employees of AirTanker Services are required to be security cleared to SC level.
