Bright Horizons Aberdeen Day Nurseries and Preschool*Hourly Rate: From* £11.92PH (dependant on qualification/s and experience)*Location:* AberdeenBright Horizons _Bright Flex_ staff support us to deliver high quality provision in our nurseries and blend the convenience of Bank / Locum / Agency work, with the security and benefits of being an employee – giving people within this team the flexibility to work when and where they want.A key role in our nursery is that of our Chef and we would like to add this role to our directory of staff to support staff holidays, sickness or unplanned absence. In this role you will prepare, cook and present age-appropriate food to high standards in a clean, tidy, safe and pleasant environment. Work in partnership with the nursery team and parents at all times to support the nurseries care and education provision. Keep accurate records of supplies and order replacements as needed within the nursery budget requirements with the support of the nursery management.This role requires working in collaboration with others and taking responsibility for working in line with regulatory requirements and Bright Horizons policies and procedures.This role will require you to travel to nurseries where cover is required.*What you’ll be doing** Keep the kitchen a clean and safe environment adhering to internal and external requirements.* Encourage and model behaviour which is appropriate in a child environment being professional at all times.* Ensure you adhere to guidance on ensuring compliance with these requirements will be supported through an induction process. you meet the legal and company requirements for fire, safety, health & hygiene at all items and necessary paperwork is completed.* Prepare and cook sufficient age-appropriate food for all the children on a daily basis with minimum wastage* Take responsibility to make sure all dietary requirements are catered for and clearly communicated to the teams.* Respond appropriately to issues requiring confidentiality: for example, being aware of personal information regarding children* Support, promote and implement policies and procedures.* Fulfil roles, responsibilities and legislation duty in relation to safeguarding children by ensure that they have read understood and implement the Safeguarding Policies and Procedures. Guidance on ensuring compliance with these will be supported through an induction process.* Ensure completion Child Protection training every two years as set out in the Child Protection Policy and that this training impacts on their ability to safeguard the children in their care.* Work in co-operation and partnership with the Nursery team and parents to encourage a healthy and nutritious diet.* Have an active role in leading the cookery club sessions with children, where guided and deemed appropriate and with guidance from Nursery Manager* Use nominated suppliers and ensure all deliveries are accurate and paperwork is kept up to date.* Support with other activities with the nursery e.g. BBQ’s, Fetes, Staff meetings, children’s cookery clubs* Take care of yourself and others and to comply with company Health and Safety guidelines.* Support the manager and work as a team to ensure a good or better inspection outcome.* Understand the importance of keeping everyone safe and the part you play.* Demonstrate a proactive approach using your initiative and showing resilience to take responsibility for getting things done.* Ensure stocks are managed and stock levels are recorded in line with company expectations and in consultation with the Nursery Manager.*What we’re looking for -** Food Safety CIEH L2 or above or equivalent - this must be passed on day 1 in post* Experience in any role which involves cooking in domestic or commercial property.* Sound Knowledge of COSHH* Able to demonstrate a sound knowledge of managing different dietary requirement around food allergies.* A clean drivers licence.* Experience in any role that involved cooking for young children.* Understanding of EHO process* Food Safety CIEH L2 or above or equivalent - this must be passed on day 1 in post* Ability to work under pressure.* Ability to communicate with both adults and children.* Ability to communicate clearly using a variety of techniques._Bright Horizons are committed to creating inclusive environments where everyone has a sense of belonging and has the opportunity to contribute and thrive in meaningful and impactful ways.
